Montagny puts Peugeot into orbit

In addition to the incident at the start of the race concerning the Peugeot n°7, the lion firm was able to count on solid stints from its drivers. Notably Franck Montagny, who covered 680km at the wheel of his 908 Hdi FAP before handing over to Stéphane Sarrazin. The Cévenol is ideally placed since the No. 8 is one lap ahead of its most dangerous competitors, the Audi No. 1 and No. 2, ranked third and fourth. Marc Gene, who had taken over from Alexander Wurz, handed the wheel to David Brabham, who was ahead of the two Audis by a few tens of seconds.

The Peugeot n°7 is still far behind but is gradually clawing its way back up the rankings. Seven laps behind the leader, Christian Klien will not be able to get back to the cars with the same power as the 908. But the No. 7 can hope to get back into the LMP1 field, after having been given a complete check-up during his break at the pit: changing the particle filter, the turbo, the left rear axle, the rear hood? Behind the Audi and Peugeot, we find two Aston Martin, the Peugeot of the Pescarolo team, the two Audi R10s of the Kolles team and the No. 15 Audi R3.
