Nick Tandy favorite to replace Webber

Porsche devra trouver un remplaçant pour combler l’absence de Mark Webber to retire at end of season after three years of defending the interests of the German brand in WEC. The Stuttgart manufacturer could well call on Nick Tandy to drive the 919 Hybrid alongside Timo Bernhard and Brendon Hartley.

Nick Tandy has been playing with Porsche Motorsport for several seasons. The 31-year-old Briton whose 2016 season program focused on the GTLM category of theIMSA with Team Manthey shone by winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2015 alongside Nico Hulkenberg and Earl Bamber as the crew made their LMP1 debut. The Porsche driver was demoted to the GTE Pro category during the last double round of the clock at Le Mans following Dieselgate which pushed Audi and Porsche to enter only two prototypes.

Porsche is still favorite to win the Drivers' and Manufacturers' titles this year, with the Dumas-Lieb-Jani trio 37,5 points ahead of Duval-Di Grassi-Jarvis before competing in the 6 Hours of Fuji (Japan) this weekend. The Stuttgart brand is 53 points ahead of Audi with three events remaining at the end of the season.
