Nissan postpones its return

After 24 Hours of Le Mans more than complicated last June, the clan Nissan has chosen to work on resolving the problems which notably affected its LM P1 in Sarthe. No specific date for return to competition has yet been mentioned and the great resumption of the World ChampionshipEndurance at the Nürburgring on August 30 will therefore take place without the GT-R LM Nismo. The testing program will, however, continue, particularly in the United States.

“We know people will be disappointed, but rest assured that no one is more disappointed than us, admits Shoichi Miyatani, president of Nismo. We are competitors and we want to race, but we also want to be competitive. This is why we chose to continue our testing program, and prepare the GT-R LM Nismo for the challenge we face in WEC. When you innovate, you don't give up at the first hurdle. We are determined to meet this challenge. »

As we explain to you in issue 2023 of AUTOhebdo, available in digital version and at kiosks, there are numerous work areas for Nissan. The men of technical director Ben Bowlby recently released a new aerodynamic kit, and also focused on the suspension of the LM P1 prototype which had evolved without ERS at Le Mans.

“The team is pushing hard on the track, in the wind tunnel and at Nismo's various facilities to deliver the long list of improvements we need. »
concludes Bowlby. It remains to be seen how long Nissan's absence will last.
