Peugeot learned from its mistakes

After a year 2008 which saw him fail in his quest for victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the team Peugeot Sport is back in Sarthe. The experience acquired since then will prove valuable at the time of departure on June 13 at 15 p.m. The modifications made to the 908 HDi will also be decisive in avoiding making the same mistakes as last year. Thus, Peugeot Sport was able to use what had not been there to modify certain things in addition to the obligatory modifications imposed by the ACO.

Its action then focused, among other things, on the "traction control" which had caused problems when the rain had come, on the clogging of the radiators, on a better adaptation of the tires to the characteristics of the ?proto? with the effective help of Michelin and an improvement in wheel centering which will make the work of mechanics easier when changing wheels.

Led by Olivier Quesnel, the boss of Citroën Sport who now combines both functions, the team left nothing to chance and even sent its drivers to complete a training course in Chamonix to strengthen ties between the three crews. At the same time, the composition of the trios of drivers who will make up the ?protos? was communicated. On the No. 908 7 HDi, a crew made up of three different nationalities will be lined up with the Portuguese Pedro Lamy, the Austrian Christian Klien and the French Nicolas Minassian. On number 8, it is a 100 percent French trio who will start with Sébastien Bourdais, Franck Montagny and Stéphane Sarrazin. Finally number 9 will include an experienced crew with the Australian David Brabham, the Spaniard Marc Gené and the Austrian Alex Wurz.

Peugeot will therefore present itself armed for the final victory even if Audi remains the logical favorite. Challenger number one, the lion brand will have a great hunger for victory and will be driven by a tremendous desire to roar.
