Peugeot, a call to water

In the aftermath of 24 Hours of Le Mans, the general staff was determined not to turn around. If the ACO strongly wanted the French team to withdraw its appeal to the FIA, Olivier Quesnel and Bruno Famin did not budge. For both men, withdraw the appeal Peugeot would have meant that this only served to glean a hypothetical victory on the green carpet, if it could not have been obtained on the track. Compliance of the Audi R15 with the technical regulations of the?Endurance was therefore the point of discussion for the French team.

During Le Mans week, from Monday, during technical checks, Peugeot noticed that the Audi R15s were, according to them, not compliant with the spirit of the regulations. After an initial, rejected complaint to the ACO, the complaint was then lodged with the FIA. Third in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the No. 15 Audi R1 risked being downgraded if the federation had delivered a negative verdict.

But the ACO, which organizes the 24 Hours of Le Mans, has reassured Peugeot about the future of Endurance. In the future, regulations should be written in consultation with all stakeholders, including manufacturers. Therefore, Peugeot Sport decided to cancel its appeal to the FIA. The French team made it official with a laconic press release, stating the transparency which should, in theory, reign in the world of endurance. Audi can then question its R15, which is valid for the moment. But maybe not for much longer?
