Porsche completes its first 2015 tests

After revealing the first images of its LM P1 prototype, 2015 version last week, the team Porsche began a first real test session last Sunday on the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. Alongside the regular drivers in the World ChampionshipEndurance, the German Timo Bernhard and the Swiss Neel Jani, three GT drivers were present: the Frenchman Frédéric Makowiecki, the British Nick Tandy, who had already driven in the German LM P1, et New Zealander Earl Bamber, winner of the Supercup in 2014 and promoted to official Porsche driver at the end of last year.

4092 kilometers were covered during these five days of testing. Porsche was notably able to initiate several areas of work. “Around halfway through testing we were able to start working on the car set-up, and towards the end we also managed to do some long runs, explains Team Principal Andreas Siedl. Our tire tests with Michelin were also very productive. We have collected a lot of valuable data, which will be carefully analyzed by our engineers over the next two weeks. Overall, the 919 Porsche 2015 Hybrid performed well, and everything is progressing according to plan. »

Porsche will carry out a new test session in Bahrain, from February 8 to 12. In addition to the usual drivers Romain Dumas, Mark Webber, Marc Lieb and Brendon Hartley, the pilot F1 Nico Hulkenberg will find the seat of the 919 Hybrid on this occasion.
