Porsche testing in Aragon ahead of Le Mans

After losing the 6 Hours of Silverstone in the final moments of the race, Porsche conceded a second defeat in 2017 against its rival Toyota in Spa last weekend.

The Weissach brand, which lined up its two 919 Hybrids equipped with the low-drag aerodynamic kit in preparation for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, was unable to rise in the Ardennes to the level of performance of the two TS050 Hybrid n°8 and n°7, equipped for Silverstone and Spa with a high downforce kit.

But Porsche remains confident in its choice of aero kit before the Le Mans classic (June 17-18), especially after comparing the result against the No. 9 Toyota, also entered with a typical Le Mans configuration.

“Once again, both cars finished the race without technical problems and took points towards the championships, specifies Team Principal Andreas Seidl. We couldn't match the speed of the Toyotas with their high downforce kit because our tire wear was just high.

But we had the third Toyota under control, the one with the low downforce kit. Including the time we lost in the pits due to the puncture, our performance was decent. »

General rehearsal before the 24 Hours

Porsche will now turn its attention to an endurance test this week in Spain at Motorland Aragon. A 30-hour session will be on the Weissach program to best prepare for the defense of its double crown in Sarthe after the successes obtained in 2015 and 2016.
