Priaulx: GTE Pro can become the premier category

Last year, the specific BoP implemented in Mexico, due to the fact that the circuit is at an altitude of 2285 meters, clearly favored naturally aspirated engines. This year, there will be no specific BoP for this event. So this looks better for you?

I hope so. Last year, we were far from the mark. But there were a lot of BoP changes during the season. If I remember correctly, there were thirteen in nine races. I think this year at Le Mans, the BoP was not far from what it should be. Not perfect, because the Ford was never fast enough to hope to win... Did we have the potential to win? No. Have we been hit by a car (theAston Martin Vantage. Editor’s note) nine years old? Yes. This is the story…

How do you view the category?

We could end up with six, or even seven, manufacturers in the near future. The LM P1, for its part, is suffering and requires an extremely substantial budget. Perhaps we should equip these cars with a hybrid system, more power and aero and simply let them fight for the overall victory...

What is your ultimate goal today? THE 24 Hours of Le Mans ?

Win the world title. I don't worry about the rest right now.
