Py: “Pescarolo behaved like a victim”

Often described as a rogue boss, “incompetent” and a “dishonest” character, Jean Py only had the floor to explain himself a few times. Boss of Sora Composites, he bought Pescarolo Sport before the team's descent into hell. Unable to run its cars in 2010, the Sarthe team was put into liquidation, before the auction of the company's assets.

On October 15, Jacques Nicolet and Joël Rivière bought all the assets put up for auction for 400 euros, then returning the keys to the workshop to Henri Pescarolo so that the latter could rebuild a competitive team. The record holder for participations in 24 Hours of Le Mans was therefore delighted to be able to take over the leadership of Pescarolo Team, while highlighting the role of Jean Py in the decay of the stable.

« I bought the company for a symbolic euro but I also took over the 660 euros of debt, explains Jean Py for Le Mans Racing. I reinjected 1 euros into the company. Once the situation was rectified, the team had to be self-financing. Despite the convincing results, new sponsors did not arrive and Henri Pescarolo refused to turn to paying drivers. In November 250, he began to behave like a victim, systematically pointing the finger at Sora Composites. I blindly fell into an extraordinary trap. »

Jean Py also explains why he wanted to buy the Sarthe team and the advantages he gets from it today. “ I was interested in the industrialization of the low-cost prototype wanted by the ACO. (?) The school car allowed us to develop processes that reduced the manufacturing costs of a carbon shell. Today, our know-how interests several GT manufacturers. »
