Quesnel: “The 908 is still relevant”

If Olivier Quesnel confirms that the 90X project is progressing well, he does not want to say a word about Peugeot's 2011 car. The director of Peugeot Sport believes that the 908, because of its qualities, deserves to be exhibited.

Quesnel: “The 908 is still relevant”

Olivier Quesnel, when will we see your next car, the one adapted to the 2011 regulations, on the track?
We will be at Sebring with the new car, our 90X project. But we won't talk about the car. As the 908 still runs and, what's more, it goes very fast, we feel that we don't have to talk about the new car. The 908 is still a current car but we are making a new car to meet the new regulations.

When will you present it?
This season, our program, after Le Mans, will continue at Silverstone, Shanghai and Petit Le Mans. After that, we will present the new car.

Will it be inspired by the current 908?
Necessarily. Generally, when we build a project for the future, we build it from the past and the present.

In which sectors will you “copy” the work done on the 908?
I won't talk about the new car. For the moment, I'm in a 908. I drive a wonderful car. The season is not over.

Will you be able to equip a private team with a Peugeot 908 adapted to the new regulations in 2011?

There's a good chance. Bought no, rented yes. Whoever seems most effective and who has the budget to make it work will have a chance.

Why not Oreca, with whom you have entered into an engine partnership and which is running a 908 this season?
A priori, there is no problem but nothing is done. It is the customer who is king.
