Sam Bird recruited by Ferrari

Briton Sam Bird will team up with Italian Davide Rigon in the No. 488 Ferrari 71 GTE in the WEC. Gianmaria Bruni will be associated with James Calado on the No. 51.

Ferrari will make changes to the crews of the all-new Ferrari 488 GTE which will debut this year on the scene of the World ChampionshipEndurance in the GTE Pro category. The cars entered by AF Corse will be entrusted to the Gianmaria Bruni crews? James Calado on #51 and Sam Bird? Davide Rigon on #71.

Titled in LM P2 last year in the G-Drive Racing Ligier JS P2, Sam Bird is the main recruit for the Italian brand. The British, also present in Formula e with DS Virgin Racing, will find a team he had frequented in 2014 in GTE Am.

He will replace James Calado on the No. 71, who left to support Gianmaria Bruni this year. The Italian actually saw his Finnish teammate Toni Vilander to join the WeatherTech Sportscar Championship alongside Giancarlo Fisichella in the Ferrari 488 of Risi Competizione.
