For its 15th participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 11-12), Sébastien Bourdais find the prototypes. Le Manceau had three starts with Ford in GTE Pro in the second half of the 2010s, and notably a category success in 2016 with Joey Hand and Dirk Müller. In 2022, the four-time Champ Car champion will compete in his first Sarthoise classic in LM P2 with the Vector Sports.

“Before there was a lot more pressure for me as a home rider, but over the years that changed and I felt that a lot more when I was fighting for overall wins, he explains. I managed to take the class victory with Ford and be part of this historic moment; it was amazing what it meant for the Ford family to win on the 50th anniversary of their first victory (with the Ford GT in 1966, a race recounted in the film Le Mans 66. Editor’s note). »

Sébastien Bourdais often experienced the joys of the podium at Le Mans in LM P1 during the adventure era Peugeot 908 (2nd in 2007, 2009 and 2011). While waiting to why not aim for this honor with Cadillac in 2023, the Habs are keen to do their best at the wheel of the Oreca 07. “If we win, it will be in the LM P2 category… unless all hell breaks loose! I've come to accept that these races tend to pick their winners and I hope one day it's my turn, but otherwise I'm at peace with that. I will continue to try to have as much fun as possible. »

Detained in Detroit, Michigan in order to win the IMSA event with Cadillac and Chip Ganassi Racing on Saturday June 4, Sébastien Bourdais took a plane to play the Test Day on Sunday June 5 in France.

“Organizing this day of testing the weekend before the race allows the intensity and the preparations to increase. Then, as you get closer to free practice and qualifying, you see and hear the spectators, the crowd becomes international, you feel the excitement. It's one of those historic and magical events that has an atmosphere different from the others. »
