Sebring: One lap was enough for Lotterer

Deprived of a duel Peugeot / Audi for the opening of the season WEC, the manufacturer with the rings has placed R18s at the forefront. André Lotterer, teammate of Benoît Tréluyer and Marcel Fässler on the No. 1, took pole in 1:45:820, seven tenths better than last year?s best time. The German only needed one flying lap to achieve this performance. “It wasn?t easy because we didn?t take part in the last free practice session,” explains the winner of the last 24 Hours of Le Mans. “It was a good wake-up call to approach qualifying in this way. My lap was good and enough to take pole. It?s obviously a good thing to be at the front, but with 60 cars on track, the race will be a different story. The pole will not be of much help. »

Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich supports André Lotterer's comments while welcoming the tenth pole scored by Audi at Sebring. “The tenth pole at Sebring is a superb result after a rather complicated Thursday for us”, specifies the Audi sporting director. ?In any case, it?s a great reward for the work done by the team. On the other hand, we know that even if the qualifying result is very pleasant, the race will be the most important. We are going to experience 12 intense hours which will be hard for all the teams. »
