Toyota Gazzo Racing a remporté les 6 Heures de Silverstone, première manche de la saison 2017 du WEC, by imposing its TS050 Hybrid n°8 of Buemi-Davidson-Nakajima face à la Porsche n°2 de Bernhard-Bamber-Hartley dans les derniers tours de la course.
Sébastien Buemi launched an attack on Brendon Hartley after taking the gamble of changing his tires during his last stop and managed to gain the advantage over the New Zealander to win with a 6 second lead.
The No. 919 1 Hybrid of Tandy-Lotterer-Jani completes the podium, 46 seconds behind the winners, while the second Toyota of Lopez-Conway-Kobayashi finished in a distant 23rd place following an exit from the track by José Maria Lopez, trapped by a light downpour, which severely damaged the front of the LMP1-H.
Alpine kick
If theAlpine n ° 36 of Stone-Menezes-Rao dominated a good part of the race in LMP2, it was ultimately the #38 of Jackie Chan DC Racing of Tung-Jarvis-Laurent which won in the category ahead of the #31 Vaillante Rebellion of Cheers-Canal-Senna and the No. 28 of TDS Racing of Vaxivière-Perrodo-Collard. The A470 dropped to 4th in the category following gearbox problems.
Ford shines in GTE Pro
Chip Ganassi Racing took victory in GTE Pro with the No. 67 Ford GT of Tincknell-Priaulx-Derani winning ahead of the Ferrari n°51 of Pier Guidi-Calado and the 911 RSR n°91 of Lietz-Makowiecki. The second Porsche driven by Estre-Christensen was one of three cars to abandon following a fire which broke out in the engine.
In GTE Am, it was ultimately the No. 61 Clearwater Racing Ferrari of Mok-Sawa-Griffin which took the victory ahead of theAston Martin n°98 of Lamy-Dalla Lana-Lauda.
