Strakka Racing with Acura

If Highcroft Racing hopes to be able to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans to run its Acura, Strakka Racing will demonstrate the qualities of the LMP2 prototype developed by Honda Performance Development in the Le Mans Series. The Silverstone-based team made its choice official on Monday. Strakka will therefore run an Acura ARX-01 in 2010 in the LMP2 category.

Like Highcroft Racing in the United States, Strakka Racing will benefit from an Acura ARX-01c, an evolution of the ARX-01b developed by Honda. The partnership is therefore a win-win for Strakka and Honda, since the team will have a competitive car and the Japanese manufacturer is assured of seeing its prototype running in Europe, after having enjoyed success in the United States.

« The move to Honda Performance Development seemed logical to us, confides Pers Philipp, team manager of Strakka. We examined the options available to us and we quickly saw that HPD offered us a partnership and a product giving us the best guarantees in order to progress with a serious manufacturer. We also thought it was wise to aim for the top in LMP2 rather than attempt a new season in LMP1, where the situation seems to be leading to a competition dominated by factory cars. The budget for a team like ours is not very different between LMP1 and LMP2, but the performance potential is poles apart. »
