“Conclusive tests” for the Oreca 03

TDS Racing, Boutsen Energy Racing, Race Performance and perhaps other teams which have not yet communicated, the Oreca 03 does not leave indifferent the teams intending to play the leading roles in LMP2 this season.

The first model left the Signes workshops at the start of the week, and immediately went to explore the Paul-Ricard circuit in the hands of Nicolas lapierre and Soheil Ayari to travel 1000 km in two days. The model used was equipped with a Nissan engine.

“The Oreca 03 confirms our rise in power at the level of the Manufacturer activity, concedes Hugues De Chaunac. This car is the first that is dedicated to customers for the LM P2. The first tests were very conclusive. »

During these two days, everything was reviewed, both in terms of aerodynamics and the chassis.

“It’s a very positive first run, explains Nicolas Lapierre. On the one hand, we find the qualities that made the Oreca 01 one of the best Essence prototypes. On the other hand, we feel that the Oreca is a completely new car. The weight distribution is different and this gives us a very agile car. It behaves well in the tight, in the medium-fast and in the fast: being able to obtain such a good balance from the first loops is very interesting. »

The new LMP2 prototype developed by Hugues de Chaunac's troops will now return to the track during the second half of February, before the various customers take possession of it, and will try to undermine the domination exercised by Lola and HPD in this category.
