Toyota continues to search for the origin of the fault

The stop on the track of the Toyota TS050 Hybrid n°5 Kazuki Nakajima will remain as the image of the 84th edition of 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Japanese brand missed its first victory in the Sarthe by encountering a mysterious mechanical problem just three minutes from the checkered flag, leaving the No. 919 2 Hybrid of Romain Dumas, Neel Jani and Marc Lieb to claim an 18th victory for Porsche on the Le Mans circuit.

Toyota continues to investigate to identify the origin of the problem which occurred on the No. 1 LMP5 of Nakajima-Davidson-Buemi. If the Asian manufacturer had already encountered reliability problems at the 6 Hours of Spa last May, there does not seem to be any link with the misfortune experienced in Sarthe.

“We had a sudden loss of power, explained a team spokesperson. We continue to investigate to identify the precise origin of a problem never encountered before. We will provide more information when the time comes. »

“We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude after receiving all these messages of support in recent days, from the public, colleagues and friends. We will return to Le Mans in 2017 stronger than ever thanks to this support and encouragement”, added the team spokesperson.
