Toyota must do better at the 6h of Mexico

Toyota ne garde pas de bons souvenirs du circuit Hermanos Rodriguez qui accueillera ce week-end le plateau du WEC. The Japanese manufacturer retired during its two endurance participations on the Mexican track in 1989 and 1990 and hopes that its high downforce package will be effective on the circuit built at altitude.

“Mexico represents a new challenge for us and all WEC teams, said Toshio Sato, president of Toyota Gazoo Racing. This event marks the middle of the season and the start of events on other continents. We should have the potential to put in a good performance. Despite our high downforce package for Mexico, we should get good top speeds due to the lower air density. We have never ridden this high with our TS050 Hybrid. »

The Japanese brand needs good results all the more since it finished outside the first four places at the 6 Hours of the Nürburgring (Germany) last July.

“It’s always thrilling and exciting when a discipline discovers a new circuit, commented Stéphane Sarrazin, driver of the No. 6 Toyota with Mike conway et Kamui Kobayashi. Testing will be very important because we all want to get detailed information about how our car behaves. The altitude will complicate the task of the pilots but I am ready to take on the challenge. I am confident for this weekend and I hope we will find some rhythm again. »
