Toyota in pole position at the 24 Hours of Le Mans after Hyperpole

The first hyperpole of the history of 24 Hours of Le Mans saw the Toyota Gazoo Racing clinch pole position for the 2020 edition of the Sarthois double clock tower.

The TS050 n°7 of Kamui Kobayashi, holder of the fastest lap in history since 2017 in 3'14″790, set the chronometric reference in 3'15″267, but we must also highlight the performance of the Rebellion R13, since Gustavo Menezes once rose to the forefront in 3'15"822

In LM P2, pole position went to the No. 07 Oreca 22 – United Autosports of Paul di Resta, author of a time of 3'24"528, a new record in the category. Jean-Eric Vergne places the No. 01 Aurus 26 – G-Drive Racing in second position, just over three tenths behind.

Nyck de Vries, despite having spent time in the gravel trap at the start of the session, hoists his No. 07 Oreca 29 – Racing Team Nederland into the top 3.

Matt burnished Aston Martin

We were waiting for the Vantage AMRs in this Hyperpole, but this devil Gianna Bruni struck again. Always ultra fast on a lap, the Transalpin offers pole position to the Porsche 911 RSR n°91 shared with Richard Lietz and Frédéric Makowiecki, with a lap of 3'50″874.

James Calado allows the Ferrari 488 GTE n°51 – AF Corse to take second place in the category, two tenths behind Bruni. The first Aston Martin Vantage, the No. 95 of Marco Sorensen, finished 3rd, three tenths behind Bruni.

In GTE Am, superb performance from Côme Ledogar on the No. 488 Ferrari 61 GTE – Luzich Racing, author of pole in 3’51″266, with the 4th cumulative time in GTE.

The 24 2020 Hours of Le Mans will begin tomorrow at 14:30 p.m.
