Toyota still leads after 6 hours of racing

The two Toyotas are in the lead after six hours at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Thomas Laurent has just made a mistake and damaged his No. 13 R3. In GTE Pro, Porsche dominates, but the peloton lost the No. 64 Corvette following a violent accident for Marcel Fässler.

Toyota still leads after 6 hours of racing

After six o'clock 24 Hours of Le Mans, Toyota Gazoo Racing poursuit sa course en tête avec les deux TS050 Hybrid n°8 de Kazuki Nakajima who took the advantage over the No. 7 of José Maria Lopez thanks to the pit stops.

The two hybrid LM P1s are one lap ahead of the #1 BR17 – SMP Racing of Sergey Sirotkin. Thomas Laurent had just managed a magnificent overtake on Mikhail Aleshin's No. 1 BR11, but the Frenchman made a mistake when braking for the second Hunaudières chicane, damaging his No. 13 R3 and causing the entry of the car from security, still on track at present.

Signatech Alpine regained the advantage over G-Drive Racing in LM P2, André negrao having found the opening on Roman Rusinov. The Russian is 24″ behind the new category leader. Ho Pin Tung (Oreca 07 n°38 – Jackie Chan DC Racing) is in 3rd position, more than 3′ behind.

Pitched battle in GTE Pro

La lutte fait rage en GTE Pro puisque après les derniers arrêts, Porsche a repris l’avantage avec la n°92 de Kevin Estre, qui précède désormais de 3″ la Ferrari n°51 of Daniel Serra, the previous leader, before the burst of passage to the pits.

Antonio Garcia (Corvette no. 63) keeps the American brand 9″ behind the leading Porsche. Nick Tandy (No. 93 Porsche) and the No. 67 Ford GT of Harry Tincknell completed the top 5.

The #85 Ford GT – Keating Motorsports still leads in GTE Am, 2'20” ahead of the #84 Ferrari – JMW Motorsports.

The race was neutralized for more than a quarter of an hour under safety car regime after the violent accident of the No. 7 Corvette C64.R of Marcel Fässler, sent off the track by the No. 911 Porsche 88 RSR – Dempsey -Proton Racing by Satoshi Hoshino.
