Toyota will not appeal its exclusion from Silverstone

Winners under the checkered flag at the 6 Hours of Silverstone last Sunday early in the evening, both Toyota TS050Hybrid had been excluded from the results of the test, for a technical non-compliance detected at the level of the flat bottom pad, considered too flexible by the technical commissioners.

The Japanese team confirmed that it would ultimately not appeal the decision and Akio Toyoda, president of the brand, wanted to apologize to its drivers Fernando Alonso, Sébastien Buemi et Kazuki Nakajima, fallen winners, as well as the Lopez trio – Kobayashi - Conway.

“I would like to apologize to the six drivers to tell them that we were not able to make a car with which they could win, even if they gave everything on the track, Toyoda said in a press release.

On the other hand, I would also like to thank our drivers for their confidence in our cars and for pushing to the limit. Which means we can learn more about improvements that can be made.

We will make our cars even stronger for the next race so that the drivers can give it their all again at Fuji Speedway and fight for another one-two finish in the run-up to the World Championship. »
