Toyota remains at the forefront in FP2 at Monza

Already at the forefront yesterday for the first free practice session of the 6 Hours of Monza, third meeting of WEC 2021, la Toyota GR010 n°7 of Mike conway - Kamui Kobayashi – Jose Maria Lopez, remained in high spirits this Saturday morning for EL2 of the transalpine meeting.

The Japanese Hypercar has completed the reference lap in 1'36″864 with José Maria Lopez, in a much more sustained tempo than the day before. Unlike yesterday, Toyota Gazoo Racing did not sign the double since Nicolas lapierre hoist itAlpine A480 n°36 in second position at 0″727, just ahead of the first Glickenhaus 007 n°708 of Olivier Pla – Gustavo Menezes – Pipo Derani, clocked at 0″737.

The top 5 is completed by the #010 Toyota GR8 of Buemi – Hartley – Nakajima and the second Glickenhaus n°709 of Dumas – Mailleux – Westbrook. Note that theAlpine was the victim of contact at the back at the end of the session.

 

 

In LM P2, Racing Team Nederland took the advantage with the No. 07 Oreca 29 of Frits van Eerd – Paul-Loup Chatin – Nyck de Vries, at the forefront in 1'38″545.

Porsche showed the way in GTE Pro, after seeing Ferrari take the lead in EL1. The No. 911 92 RSR of Kévin Estre and Neel Jani dominated the field with a best time of 1'45"590, preceding the two Ferrari 488 GTE Evos - AF Corse, the No. 51 of Pier Guidi - Calado ahead of the no. °52 from Molina – Serra.

Ferrari and AF Corse, on the other hand, achieved the best time in GTE Am with the 488 GTE Evo no. 54 – AF Corse of Giancarlo Fisichella – Thomas Flohr – Francesco Castellacci ahead of the Ferrari no. 83 – AF Corse of François Perrodo – Nicklas Nielsen – Alessio Rovera.

The third free practice session is scheduled for 14 p.m. in Lombardy, before qualifying expected at 18 p.m.
