Toyota scores a double at the 6 Hours of Spa

Until the last moments of the race, the internal fight among Toyota will have raged on the track. A long time, the Toyota TS050 Hybrid n°8 of Buemi – Davidson – Nakajima led the proceedings after halfway, after taking advantage of the first neutralization under Full Course Yellow.

A procedure which served the sister car n°7 of Kobayashi - Conway, who had led the first part of the event vigorously before seeing his advantage annihilated by the first FCY.

After the final stops of the last quarter of an hour, Kamui Kobayashi continued at a frantic pace to catch up with the leader Sébastien Buemi, but the Swiss did not tremble to sign a second consecutive success in WEC after Silverstone.

In track conditions made difficult by the arrival of rain in the last part of the event, Toyota therefore scored a double ahead of the Porsche 919 Hybrid No. 2 of Hartley – Bamber – Bernhard which at one time posed a threat to victory, with an offbeat strategy.

But contact withAlpine A470 n°36 at the start of the last hour, with a trip to the pits to change the front cover, undoubtedly cost the German LM P1 dearly.

The Porsche 919 Hybrid n°1 of Lotterer – Jani – Tandy failed in fourth position ahead of the third Toyota TS050 Hybrid n°9 of Stone – Kunimoto – Sarrazin. The ENSO CLM P1/01 of Team ByKolles of Webb – Rossiter – Kraihamer took sixth place.

G-Drive dominates Vaillante Rebellion

In LM P2, the duel between G-Drive Racing and Vaillante Rebellion turned to the advantage of the former. The Oreca 07 n°26 of Lynn – Rusinov – Thiriet won at the finish with more than 50″ ahead of the Oreca 07 n°31 – Vaillante Rebellion of Cheers – Canal – Senna.

The No. 31 did not have the clearest race with a 10″ penalty for contact with a Ford GT, and a forced intervention on an antenna on the Var LM P2 in the last two hours, which caused the car to lose precious time for the Senna – Canal – Prost trio.

The category podium is completed by Tung – Laurent – Jarvis (Oreca 07 n°38 – Jackie Chan DC Racing) ahead of the second Vaillante Rebellion n°13 of Piquet – Beche – Heinemeier-Hansson, and the first Alpine A470 n°36 from Menezes – Dumas – Rao.

Ferrari crushes the competition in GTE Pro

In GTE Pro, Ferrari largely dominated the event, offering an internal battle for victory. The Bird – Rigon duo (Ferrari 488 no. 71) ultimately emerged victorious in the fratricidal fight in front of the sister car no. 51 of Calado – Pier Guidi.

Ford reached the podium with the No. 66 Chip Ganassi Racing Team UK GT of Mücke – Pla – Johnson, the No. 67 of Priaulx – Tincknell – Derani falling just short of the category podium.

Followed by the two Porsche 911 RSR n°91 of Makowiecki – Lietz and n°92 of Estre – Christensen, and both Aston Martin Vantage, absent from the race for victory this weekend.

Aston Martin will, however, be able to console itself with success in GTE Am with the #98 Vantage of Dalla Lana – Lamy – Lauda ahead of the #911 Porsche 77 RSR – Dempsey-Proton Racing of Dienst – Cairoli – Ried and the #488 Ferrari 61 XNUMX – Clearwater Racing by Sawa – Sun Mok – Griffin.
