Toyota triumphs on home soil in Fuji

Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima and Anthony Davidson (Toyota Gazoo Racing) won the 6 Hours of Fuji (Japan), contested in difficult weather conditions. The rain mixed with fog forced the commissioners to wave the red flag twice.

Starting from pole position, the Porsche by Timo Bernhard, Earl Bamber and Brendon Hartley finished just off the podium, behind the sister car of Neel Jani, André Lotterer and Nick Tandy. By signing a double (Conway-Kobayashi-Lopez finishes 2nd), Toyota pushes back the manufacturers' title for Porsche in LM P1.

In the LM P2 category, the Vaillante Rebellion team went from fear to joy. While the No. 13 of the Bêche-Heinemeier Hansson-Piquet Jr trio left the track, the No. 07 Oreca 31 of Canal-Cheers-Senna preserved the advantage until the second red flag.

Japanese air gave wings to the Ferrari AF Corse of James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi, who emerged victorious from the battle in GTE Pro, ahead of Richard Lietz and Frédéric Makowiecki (Porsche). Finally, in the amateur category (GTE Am), it was again a Ferrari 488 which won, this time in the hands of Flohr-Castellacci-Molina.
