This 89th edition of 24 Hours of Le Mans, Toyota will remember it for a long time. Big favorite after the hyperpole of Kamui Kobayashi, the GR010 No. 7 confirmed the trend in the race by dominating it from start to finish.

“The last few races at Le Mans were difficult for us as a crew, said José Maria López relieved to put his name on the list. Finally winning this event is a dream come true. It’s just incredible.”

But the road to the top step of the podium was not an easy task for the crew Conway-Kobayashi-López. But now luck has turned in favor of the trio, victims of various problems during previous editions. “We have gone through so many experiences in recent years, some of them very difficult, to be able to get here, remembers the winner Kamui Kobayashi. I always knew that to win Le Mans you needed luck. Well we got some this time.”

Beyond its victory at Le Mans, the No. 7 Toyota made racing history by becoming the first Hypercar to win in Sarthe. “It was a very tough race and a real team victory, achieved in difficult circumstances, rejoices Hisatake Murata, president of Toyota Gazoo Racing. We asked a lot of our pilots and I am amazed by their ability to apply everything without wasting any time. It was a collective effort, we never gave up and the whole team did everything to achieve this victory.”

With its two GR010s on the highest steps of the podium, Toyota leaves Le Mans with a third double and a fourth victory in a row but above all as the big boss of the new premier category.
