There are 38 cars, including 13 Hypercars, which will be entered for the 2023 season of the WEC, as revealed by the first entry list revealed this Wednesday, January 11.

Hypercar

In the Hypercar category, we will find 13 cars. No surprises among the title holders Toyota, since the six 2022 drivers are back for this new year. Same at Peugeot since the French team will field the two crews which finished the previous season.

As for the newcomers, Porsche will line up Dane Cameron, Michael Christensen and Frédéric Makowiecki on the No. 5 as well as André Lotterer, Kévin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor on the No. 6.

Among the Stuttgart firm's client teams, Yifei Ye is still the only one confirmed in the No. 38 Hertz Team JOTA. He should be accompanied by António Félix de Costa and Will Stevens.

Proton Competition has confirmed its first driver in its Porsche 963 which will wear the number 99 with Italian Gianmaria Bruni. Cadillac will field Earl Bamber, Alex Lynn and Richard Westbrook.

Announced this Tuesday, January 10 by Ferrari, Antonio Giovinazzi will sit in the No. 499 51P alongside Alessandro Pier Guidi and James Calado. The No. 50 will be led by Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen. The entry list also reveals the official name of the Prancing Horse stable which will be called Ferrari AF Corsica. Frenchman Romain Dumas is confirmed at Glickenhaus.

The main question rested on the presence or not of Vanwall Racing and Isotta Fraschini. The Italian manufacturer did not pass the Selection Committee stage, unlike the Austrian manufacturer registered under the name Floyd Vanwall Racing Team.

Three drivers are already confirmed to pilot the Vanwall Vanderwell 680: Tom Dillmann, Esteban Guerrieri and especially Jacques Villeneuve! The world champion of Formula 1 1997 will thus make its return to 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time since 2008 (2nd with Peugeot).

LM P2

In the LM P2 category, 11 cars will be taking part.

The main novelty is the return ofAlpine in this category after two seasons at the higher level. The mark with the arrowed A will indeed align two cars (of Alpine A470 which are rebadged Oreca 07s) while awaiting the arrival of the LMDh for 2024.

Matthieu Vaxiviere and Andre Negro will still be there, but not in the same crew. The other drivers for the French team are not yet known, but Charles Milesi, Julien Canal, Hadrien David and Olli Caldwell could be among them.

As announced also this Tuesday, January 10, Prema will enter two cars in the championship this season. Dorian Pin will make his prototype debut in the #63, while Juan Manuel Correa will ride in the #9.

United Autosports and Team WRT will always field two cars per team. Vector Sport, associated with Isotta Fraschini for the LMH, will continue in LM P2 with Ryan Cullen.

GTE Am

In the now only GTE Am category, 14 cars will be entered. The entry list confirms, as indicated by AUTOhebdo for several months, the Iron Lynx and Iron Dames teams will be racing on Porsche 911 RSR – 19s. Sarah Bovy, Michelle Gatting and Rahel Frey will always team up.

The Belgian Ulysse de Pauw will be on AF Corse n°21. Another AF Corse will be lined up with Richard Mille as sponsor. Only Luis Perez Companc is confirmed at present, but according to our information, Lilou Wadoux should also be in this crew.

Villeneuve?! How lucky he is, the good news is that during this time we won't have to put up with his comments on Canal, for the times it's another story, on the 908 he was never at the level of his teammates .
