WEC – G-Drive Racing wants to continue the series in Bahrain

G-Drive Racing remains on two poles and two consecutive victories recorded at Fuji (Japan) and Shanghai (China) and can hope to continue the series next weekend at the 6 Hours of Bahrain and take the lead in the standings against SMP Racing which now only has an eight-point lead.

The Ligier JS P2, which attracted Michael Shank Racing, will have a new opportunity to shine even if the high temperatures can disrupt the crew. “I really like the Bahrain circuit on which we already drove in 2012 and 2013. It offers a very technical part and another faster one, which requires finding the right balance in the car's settings: it's a very interesting challenge", explains Olivier Pla. “Unlike the two previous years where I drove a Morgan LM P2, this year we will be with a closed sports prototype and the heat will therefore be an important element: as we experienced in Austin, it is physically very difficult to chain double relays if the temperature is too high. »

His teammate Roman Rusinov, who completes the crew with Julien Canal, also plans to obtain the best result in the run-up to the LMP2 title. “Every weekend is a new challenge for us because we start from scratch with our new car”, adds the Russian. ?The last two races were perfect for us, the whole G-Drive Racing team did a great job and we were very competitive on the track. It's difficult to climb back up the rankings after our retirement at Le Mans (Sarthe) which cost us 50 points. But we are more motivated than ever. We hope to meet KCMG in Bahrain as we were all very sorry about their accident in China. They are real competitors, and it?s a chance to have them in the Championship. »
