WEC – Rain prevails at the 6 Hours of Fuji

The green flag was never seen at the 6 Hours of Fuji, the Japanese round having been stopped following heavy downpours which prevented the race management from releasing the cars onto the track. Although the cars have constantly evolved under the safety car regime, a classification and a final ceremony have still been established at the end of the event, even if all the drivers only score half of the points.

Consequently, Toyota remporte son premier succès de la saison avec la TS030 n°7 de Nakajima-Stone-Wurz victorious on a regular basis last year on this route. While Audi won the Manufacturers' title, the No. 18 R2 of Duval-Kristensen-McNish takes second place as his crew moves closer to the title, the No. 18 R1 of Tréluyer-Fässler-Lotterer finishing at the back of the pack with the No. 8 Toyota of Davidson-Buemi-Sarrazin after a trip to the pits. Rebellion completes the podium with the Lola B12/60 of Belicchi-Beche, but the Swiss team is certainly more proud of its success at Petit Le Mans.

Oak Racing wins in LMP2 with the #35 Morgan of Baguette-Plowman-Gonzalez who took pole in the category. Aston Martin wins in GTE Pro and GTE Am. Victory in the first category goes to the No. 97 Vantage of Makowiecki-Turner-Mücke, while Senna-Poulsen-Nygaard wins the No. 95.

Our special correspondent will return to this particular weekend of WEC in Fuji in issue 1932 of AUTOhebdo, available from Tuesday in digital version on all platforms, and from Wednesday on newsstands.
