As we announced to you in issue 2002 of AUTOhebdo, the Audi R18 e-tron quattro will change ERS class from 2 to 4MJ per turn to 24 Hours of Le Mans, i.e. an energy of more than 200kW (or 272hp).
If the Ingolstadt engineers have optimized the aero flow of the LMP1, the mechanics have not been left aside to face ever sharper competition. The V6 TDI will be both more efficient (558hp) and more economical with a drop in consumption estimated at 2,5% compared to 2014. The total weight will be contained at 870kg.
“We are still far from having explored the possibilities of the revolutionary regulations effective in LMP1. There is still room for many developments”, underlined Jörg Zander, the new director of engineering at Audi Sport. “We expect technological developments to provide healthy pressure from the four manufacturers now involved. We are going to significantly improve times this season while consuming less. »
