WEC / Le Mans – Nissan postpones the debut of the GT-R LM Nismo

Nissan has confirmed that it will miss the first two rounds of the WEC in Silverstone (April 12) and Spa-Francorchamps (May 2), as well as the WEC Prologue (March 27 and 28 at Paul-Ricard (Var). The Japanese manufacturer will therefore make its competitive debut directly at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 13 and 14).

The difficulties encountered by Nissan in the development of the GT-R LM Nismo became apparent during tests carried out at Sebring (Florida) where the Japanese team ended its session prematurely (see: AUTOhebdo n°2002).

“Nissan is not the first manufacturer to miss the start of the season and they will not be the last. Toyota did the same thing and they are now world champions », commented Gérard Neveu, director of the WEC, in a press release. “It’s very difficult to build an LMP1. It takes time and we trust Nissan to be on the WEC grid from Le Mans. »

Nissan plans to field three GT-R LM Nismo at the Le Mans double round and has already designated the crews.
