L’annonce se faisait attendre. Ce matin, Porsche a confirmé à Bahreïn qu’en plus des deux LM P1, seraient engagées l’an prochain, et ce de manière officielle, deux 911 RSR en WEC. Two cars entered, as was the case this year, under the Porsche AG Team Manthey banner in GTE Pro. For its first year in competition, the 911 RSR did well, notably taking a double in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with the No. 92 of Romain Dumas-Marc Lieb-Richard Lietz ahead of the No. 91 of Jörg Bergmeister-Timo Bernhard-Patrick Pilet. Tomorrow, in Bahrain, Lietz and Lieb will also try to win the World Endurance Cup for GT drivers, namely the GT title in WEC.
“The GTE Pro category of the WEC is the most competitive, with a calendar taking in the most important markets for Porsche, explains Hartmut Kristen, director of the sports branch of the German manufacturer. With the 911 RSR, we will once again face tough competition and are impatient to continue the dynamic of success that we have had this year against very strong opposition. »
Nothing has been announced regarding the drivers, especially as a reminder, the Stuttgart firm will also be officially represented in the GT Le Mans category of the USCC next year through the Team Porsche North America.
