The ACO confirmed during a press conference held this Thursday, June 11 in the paddock of 24 Hours of Le Mans thata single engine will be imposed in LMP2. The number of different chassis will be limited to 4 models. The transition to the news will be scalable depending on the championships. “The economic question was the first concern of the LM P2 regulations for the 2016 and 2017 seasons,” recalled Vincent Beaumesnil, the sporting director of the ACO.
On the GTE side, the cars should gain approximately 3 seconds per lap. Safety will not be forgotten however since an access hatch for extraction will be installed on all models.
