WEC – The Porsche 911 RSRs for an exploit in Brazil

Porsche reste en lutte pour le trophée Constructeurs en GTE Pro en faisant face aux Ferrari 458 Italia from AF Corse. After a double at the 6 Hours of Shanghai (China), the 911 RSR finished just off the podium in Bahrain. But the gap with the Italian cars will be difficult to close during the final contested next week in Sao Paulo (Brazil). “Our chances are rather theoretical after Bahrain but we remain focused on our preparation. We can do well in this 6-hour race, particularly on such a demanding circuit”, commented Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, Director of Porsche Motorsport.

“The key to success is to have good settings for the twisty sector and the long straights. The car must also be good on the curbs. We are focused on this point because we were struggling with it last year. The race will take place three months later compared to 2013 and the temperatures will be higher. The surface has also been redone. Our data will need to be updated,” added Marco Ujhasi, the 911 RSR project manager.

Richard Lietz, driver of the No. 91 with Jörg Bergmeister, is aware of the difficulty of the challenge. “We have had some great races in recent years in Sao Paulo but the events were still difficult. And it will definitely be even more complicated this time. The weather could play an important role and the rain would help us a lot. It’s the finale of a very long season for me which started with a victory at the 24 Hours of Daytona (in GTLM with Porsche North America) and it would be magnificent to end with a success. »
