WEC – Porsche was strongest at the Nürburgring

Porsche wins his second double in a row after that obtained at 24 Hours of Le Mans by winning at the 6 Hours of the Nürburgring (Germany). Bernhard-Hartley-Webber's 919 Hybrid No. 17 took advantage of sister car's fuel consumption concerns, penalized several times, to seize the lead of the race and never let go. Despite its series of “stop & go”, the No. 18 of Dumas-Lieb-Jani was able to return to 2nd position by getting rid of the Audis in the last hour.

The #18 R7 e-tron quattro of Fässler-Lotterer-Tréluyer completes the podium ahead of the #8 of Di Grassi-Duval-Jarvis. The two Audis remained in constant battle for places of honor, without being able to resist the return of the second 919 Hybrid.

KCMG dominated LMP2 with its Howson-Tandy-Bradley Oreca 05 and easily won ahead of the Ligier JS P2s of G-Drive Racing, the n°26 of Bird-Rusinov-Canal preceding the n°28 of Derani-Yacaman-Gonzalez. The Morgan of Team SARD Morand of Webb-Ragues-Hamilton and l'Alpine A450b from Panciatici-Chatin-Capillaire complete the top five in the category.

Porsche also dominated the GTE Pro, also scoring a double with the #911 91 RSR of Lietz-Christensen and the #92 of Pilet-Makowiecki. The weekend, however, is much more difficult for AF Corse. If the Italian team saves a podium with the Ferrari n°71 of Rigon-Calado, she saw the No. 51 of Bruni-Vilander, leaders in the category before this weekend, encountered multiple problems.

The fight for victory was more uncertain in GTE Am but it was in the end the #72 Ferrari of SMP Racing which won with Shaytar-Bertolini-Basov.
