It was surprising not to see Will Stevens in the Wayne Taylor Racing drivers for Petit Le Mans. The Briton was in fact replaced by Brendon Hartley alongside Filipe Albuquerque and Ricky Taylor in the No. 05 Acura ARX-10. Especially since the one who is also a test pilot for McLaren en F1 seemed to have a place secured in the event of a second LMDh for the team in 2024. “Will has other plans”, we were told by the American team.

At JOTA with Da Costa?

"It's my decision, confirms Will Stevens on the sidelines of the 4 Hours of Spa where he is lined up in LM P2 with Racing Team Turkey. I was able to combine IMSA et WEC this year, but it will be more and more difficult to do double programs from now on, since each manufacturer wants exclusivity. It will therefore no longer be possible to continue like this and I had to make the best decision for my future. At Wayne Taylor Racing, they understood my position. It was not easy. »

By giving up on WTR and IMSA, Will opens the door to the WEC and a Hypercar program next season. According to our information, this should be near Porsche, and in particular with JOTA. Will Stevens should therefore move up to the next level with the British team, with whom he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in LM P2 this season, alongside Antonio Felix da Costa and Roberto Gonzalez.

If the Portuguese, hired by the German manufacturer in Formula E, should also be on the grid, this should not be the case for the third man. The Mexican has therefore decided not to continue at the end of the season and JOTA is therefore looking for another element for his LMDh. Would Porsche take advantage of this to place one of its drivers?

The British team also hopes to stay in LM P2 with a car in 2023. Oliver Rasmussen, third in the 24 2022 Hours of Le Mans in this category with JOTA, could still be there.
