200th start for Kimi Räikkönen in Montreal

It is March 4, 2001, and a very young 22-year-old Finn is making his big debut in F1 within the Sauber team. If Räikkönen's inexperience caused talk behind the scenes, the rookie immediately silenced all criticism by scoring the point for sixth place at the end of the race. The stable directors spotted this prodigy and in 2002, Ron Dennis secured the services of Kimi at McLaren.

March 23, 2003. After a year of familiarization within the Woking team, Räikkönen confirmed the hopes that had been placed in him by achieving the first victory of his young career in Malaysia. Starting 7th, the native of Espoo will put in a brilliant race to win ahead of Rubens Barrichello (Ferrari) and another young talent, Fernando Alonso (Renault) who took pole on Saturday.

October 12, 2003. At the end of a season marked by the three-way match between Juan-Pablo Montoya (Williams), Michael Schumacher (Ferrari) and the Finn, the final takes place on the Japanese track of Suzuka. Only Schumi and the McLaren driver can still be titled. At the end of the suspense and a race dominated by Barrichello, Kimi failed in 2nd position, while Schumacher scored the points for 8th place which were enough for him to win a sixth world title.

March 18, 2007. After five seasons at the wheel of McLaren single-seaters and two missed opportunities to win the title in 2003 and 2005, Kimi Räikkönen moves to Ferrari. And from the opening of the season in Australia, he won.

October 21, 2007. Trailing by 7 points Lewis Hamilton before the last Grand Prix in Brazil, the title chances are slim for the Finn, but at the end of a race with twists and turns (including the gearbox problems of the Briton from McLaren), Kimi Räikkönen wins and takes the world title for a point ahead of Alonso and Hamilton. Iceman took advantage of the internal war in Woking and a perfect end to the season to take the crown.

Thanked by Ferrari at the end of 2009, it was around the WRC (with a Citroën C4) that Räikkönen will turn to for two seasons before returning in 2012 to Lotus F1 Team. On November 4, he returned to success in Abu Dhabi before doing so again on March 17, 2013 for the opening of the championship in Australia, which remains his last Grand Prix victory to this day. On September 10, he formalized his return to Ferrari for the current season. In Canada, he will start his 200th race on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit.
