The Canadian Grand Prix contested last Sunday was the scene of the 26e career victory de Max Verstappen. In Montreal, the world champion resisted the assaults of Carlos Sainz in the last 15 laps to sign his 6e victory of the season and take 49 points ahead of its main rival Charles Leclerc, currently 3e in the championship.
In addition to having won his 26e victory, Max Verstappen also reached the mark of 150 Grands Prix contested. A brand that allows it to be at the level of the world champions still active Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton or even Sebastian Vettel, even if the latter have much more today. So, after 150 Grands Prix in F1, where does the main stakeholder stand in relation to his counterparts?
Verstappen ahead of Alonso
After 150 races in the premier category, Max Verstappen has a nice record of 26 victories while Fernando Alonso only had 23 at this precise moment in his career. In terms of podiums, the Batavian is also ahead with 67 climbs compared to 58 for the Spaniard. Ditto for the best laps in GP (18 to 15).
Concerning pole positions, the reigning world champion is slightly behind since he has 3 less than the current driver alpine namely 15 against 18. In terms of titles, Max Verstappen is also not ahead. At 150 Grands Prix, Fernando Alonso had 2 while the representative of Red Bull only has one, at the moment...
Vettel and Hamilton still far ahead
Compared to Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen remains behind after 150 Grands Prix. At that stage of their careers, the German and the Englishman had 41 and 34 successes respectively. The same goes for podiums and pole positions. As a reminder, the Dutchman has now entered the box 67 times after 150 starts. Opposite, Vettel and Hamilton already had 73 and 72 podiums to their credit. As for the poles, the German and the British are well ahead of him with 45 for the first and 40 for the second.
In terms of championship titles, Sebastian Vettel had already been crowned for 4e times in his career while Lewis Hamilton had just won his 1e with MercedesThe 2e of her career.
However, it is difficult to put all these figures on the same level. Max Verstappen is only 24 years old and has not had an ultra-dominant period like Sebastian Vettel with Red Bull between 2010 and 2013 or Lewis Hamilton with Mercedes between 2014 and 2020 where they were practically alone in the world. The Dutchman has never had a car capable of winning throughout a year, except in 2021. Despite this, he has managed to score victories, pole positions and regularly appear on the podium. . It remains to be seen whether we are witnessing the beginning of the ultra-dominant era of the Batavian as his counterparts before him experienced.
