Max Verstappen: “It’s a good start”

Max Verstappen qualified 2nd on the starting grid for the Bahrain GP. The Dutchman, very comfortable throughout the weekend, gave in to Charles Leclerc. Nevertheless, the new world champion was satisfied with a good start for this first round of the year. “ In Q2, things weren't too bad for me. But in Q3, I had more difficulty with the balance of the car. Nonetheless, it's a good session. We have a good car for racing, which is the most important thing. It's a good day overall, a good start.«

King of pole positions last year, Max Verstappen played down the drama of having missed pole in favor of Ferrari, whose work he praised. “ Although our car wasn't fantastic, it wasn't bad either. Otherwise, we wouldn't be here. There are still a few things to sort out and focus on. Here, you have to be sure to have a good car for the race, because the tires will suffer much more here than elsewhere. It's more difficult than on other tracks. We had a very good battle with Charles (Leclerc) and Carlos (Sainz), Ferrari has done a very good job this winter. The race promises to be exciting. Am disappointed to see Mercedes as far ? Yes, very disappointed.«
