At the end of the first day of testing on the Valencia track, satisfaction was evident in the French camp following the good reliability displayed by the new R30. “ We had two points to validate today: the reliability of everything and the comfort of Robert (Kubica) in the car », underlined Team Principal Eric Boullier at the end of the afternoon.
Despite good beginnings in the study of various characteristics, Eric Boullier confirms that Renault will have to continue its efforts on Tuesday and Wednesday. “ We still have a little work to do on its installation while, on the reliability side, apart from a small vibration problem at the end of the day, we have not experienced the slightest alert whether at the level of the engine, the gearbox, brakes or electronics »
Reassured about the level of reliability of the car, Eric Boullier knows that performance should not be the driving force of these first days of testing. “ We have already validated a few things. The goal of these Valencia tests is really to validate the overall concept of the R30, not to seek performance. That will come later. » Tomorrow, long stints with a full tank will be on the program for the Polish driver while Vitaly Petrov will discover the R30 on Wednesday.
