Button: New start to season in Shanghai

Jenson Button has only two points on the clock after the first two Grands Prix, but the 2009 world champion could have had a good result when he was fighting for a top five before encountering a loose wheel problem coming destroy his race. After taking advantage of the break between Sepang and Shanghai, the driver McLaren is hopeful of returning to the forefront on a circuit where he took 2nd place last year ahead of his former teammate Lewis Hamilton. “It’s funny, it’s like the Chinese Grand Prix is a new start to the season for me,” comments the winner of the 2010 edition. “Having two points after two Grands Prix was not what I had in mind at the start of the year. But I'm sure the team has addressed the flaws in our car. We know where we are losing performance and we can't wait to see what we can do in Shanghai. »

The McLaren driver is also comfortable on this circuit where he has often distinguished himself in the past. “I’ve always loved riding here.”, underlines the Briton. “Our car has always been competitive on this track and we have always been able to find the right balance between the slow sectors, the quick changes of direction and the low aero downforce necessary for the long straight. It’s a good circuit because the straight offers great overtaking opportunities. I think we can have a good racing weekend. The important thing for the team is to arrive with clear objectives, using our strengths and improving our understanding of the car. I clearly think that everything remains playable in the Championship and I can't wait to get back behind the wheel and resume the fight. »
