Button wants to create a surprise at the Canadian GP

McLaren is progressing step by step but the Woking team is still far from being able to aim for victory in the Grands Prix. Jenson Button remains on a good result since he managed to take sixth place at the last Monaco GP while his teammate Sergio Pérez retired while fighting for a place in the top five. The Briton is now preparing to face the Montreal circuit which has often offered unexpected results. “I have always loved the Canadian Grand Prix, it is a race awaited by everyone. F1 », recalls the 2009 world champion. “As in Monaco, the Canadian Grand Prix can sometimes become a lottery. But unlike Monaco where speeds are low and grip is strong, the Gilles Villeneuve circuit is the opposite with high speeds and a track with little grip. This mix always offers great races. »

Jenson Button remembers his 2011 victory with emotion, where the McLaren driver made a fantastic comeback in tricky conditions in which he excelled. If the former world champion remains pragmatic about the potential of the MP4-28, the resident of the Woking team can still hope to take advantage of the racing circumstances to win new points. “Coming back to Canada always brings back the memory of my race in 2011. Coming from last to first truly proves that anything is possible in F1. Even if we will not arrive in Montreal with a package allowing us to play for victory, we are making constant progress and the motivation is always higher when we can achieve a surprising result. I'm looking forward to a great weekend in Canada. »
