Carlos Sainz took the first pole position of his career by taking the best time in his last attempt in qualifying. Unfortunately for the Spaniard, Lando Norris was the quickest to steal this honor. The pilot Ferrari is nevertheless very happy with this result and hopes to take advantage of the start to move to the front of the race, even if he is aware of not being in the best position on the grid for this Russian Grand Prix. “The conditions were very tricky from the start but we saw an opportunity to put the tires on slicks, reacted Carlos Sainz after the session. It was difficult to get them up to temperature but I managed to do a great lap. Unfortunately, I was one of the first to cross the line and we weren't able to use the track in the best conditions, but it's still a good place to start tomorrow. We showed that we are competitive this weekend. THE Mercedes and Red Bull will come back up but we will try not to make it easy for them. I hope I can get a better start than Lando and pass him at the start but I will start on the dirty side of the track and provide aspiration for other drivers. »
