Will the Eau Rouge du Raidillon have the same brilliance this year as the Ferrari livery? Carlos Sainz wants to believe it after a first half-season which showed all the merits of his recruitment by Maranello, and confused all his detractors. Although the Madrilenian has a reputation as a fast and strong driver, many wondered if the Italian light suit was not too big for him. Certainly, wherever he had gone, Toro Rosso, Renault et McLaren, he had shown velocity and consistency; especially at Woking where he also made a significant contribution to the recovery of the team. However, doubt remained. Was he this matador capable of planting his banderillas on the wing of the sister car? The answer undoubtedly lay in the real expectations of the Scuderia: did it need a solid teammate to stick to the coattails of Charles Leclerc without however disturbing the serenity of the chosen one and bringing the points necessary to conquer the Manufacturers' title?
