Christijan Albers leaves Caterham

Last July, the Caterham team experienced great upheaval following its takeover by a group of investors advised by the Romanian Colin Kolles. The former pilot of F1 the Dutchman Christijan Albers then took over as Team Principal, replacing the Frenchman Cyril Abiteboul, recalled from the side of Renault F1 Sports. But the Caterham adventure only lasted half the summer for Albers who announced this Sunday after the Italian Grand Prix at Monza his resignation for personal reasons.

“Over the last few months I have devoted all my energy to ensuring that our management of the team would be the best possible, in order to achieve the best possible results for our investors, sponsors and everyone involved with Caterham F1 Team. I worked tirelessly to rebuild the team, and at the same time, bring technical updates to the car. By doing this, we have created both a better foundation for the future of the team and made significant improvements to the car. For private reasons and to be able to spend more time with my family, I am resigning from my position as Managing Director of Caterham F1 Team. I wish the team all the best for the future. » Albers said in a press release.

It is the Italian Manfredo Ravetto who will serve as Team Principal of the Leafield team, he who was advisor to Albers.
