Coronavirus – Belgium confirms its measures regarding mass events

Yesterday, following a meeting with the National Security Council, Belgian Prime Minister Sophie Wilmès gave more information on deconfinement, while specifying once again that “ nothing is set in stone ».

This should be done in several phases, the first being spread out between May 4 and 11, with measures to be respected such as wearing a mask in transport and social distancing.

As far as we are concerned, nothing really new to report. “ Festival-type events cannot take place until August 31, declared Sophie Wilmès. But we will evaluate the possibility of organizing smaller-scale outdoor events in consultation with local authorities, but here too, caution is required given the unpredictability of the situation. »

It remains to be seen whether in which box a car race is located behind closed doors on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

As a reminder, if the 2020 edition of the 24 Hours of Spa – which cannot do without the public – scheduled for July 25 and 26 has already been postponed, three events are affected: the 4 Hours of Spa (ELMS) and the 6 Hours of Spa (WEC), respectively scheduled for August 9 and 15, as well as the Belgian Grand Prix (August 30).
