Coulthard: “Excellent on the marketing side”

David Coulthard, if he retired from the Formula 1, sometimes gets behind the wheel of a Red Bull for the energy drink brand’s roadshows. Now pilot of DTM, he is questioned by Bild.de about the hanging of Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber during the Turkish Grand Prix. Pragmatic, the Scot does not cry scandal.

« On the marketing side, it?s excellent. Everyone is talking about Red Bull », explains David Coulthard. The dizzying loss of points linked to this incident does not even scare the Red Bull driver. “ Everyone did what they had to do. You can't tell a pilot not to attack. It's like giving a child ice cream and forbidding him to lick it. » Sebastian Vettel, too tempted by this appetizing overtaking, could not resist the urge to take a bite out of Mark Webber.

However, the two men took part in a conciliation meeting this Thursday, surrounded by Christian Horner, Helmut Marko and Adrian Newey. No doubt sensitive to the marketing argument put forward by David Coulthard, those responsible for Red Bull Racing prefer to ensure the “automatic” benefits of a World Champion title. And, this year, Red Bull is the team best placed to achieve this objective.
