Seventy-two hours. The tub left vacant by Sebastian Vettel will not have been there for very long. While the whole paddock thought that Fernando Alonso offered his services to Aston Martin for the sole purpose of negotiating a better contract with Alpine, the Spaniard finally signed with the Silverstone team for several years, as he wished, without the total duration having been communicated. The announcement came this Monday morning, the day after a Hungarian Grand Prix which saw him finish 8th, just before the summer break.
“Aston Martin are clearly pulling out all the stops today to win, making them one of the most exciting teams in F1 today, explained the Spaniard. I have known Lawrence and Lance for several years and I know they have an absolute desire to succeed in F1. The team has attracted people with winning pedigrees, and I've also seen everything they've put in place with the new factory at Silverstone. No one in F1 today has a bigger vision to win than them, and that makes it an exciting opportunity for me.
In the ranks of Aston, we are obviously satisfied with this prize of war! “I have already been able to measure the excitement of the entire engineering team to have the opportunity to work with someone of Fernando's caliber,” explained Mike Krack. We are creating an organization to win, and it is obvious that Fernando will accelerate our progress and take us to another level of performance.

“Aston Martin is clearly doing everything possible today to win, which makes them one of the most exciting teams in F1 today,” explained the Spaniard. We cannot at all say that to this day, Aston Martin is a war machine, far from it! Will it become what ultimately became Red Bull Racing? I'm skeptical...
