EL2 – Mercedes performs at Silverstone, problems for Vettel

The mechanics suffered this Friday August 7 on the English track of Silverstone. The second free practice session of the day was not pleasant for Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari), which simply broke its engine. 

The German parked in disaster at the side of the track a few minutes from the end after his car released a disturbing liquid onto the track. A few moments later, theAlfa Romeo by Antonio Giovinazzi stopped working correctly, probably following an identical breakage. The two men ended this session pitifully in 14th and 20th place.

Before these pine nut salads, the team Mercedes worked without problem in view of the race. A few hours later Valtteri Bottas, Lewis Hamilton secured the best time, 176 thousandths ahead of his teammate. 

The satisfaction of the afternoon comes from Renault with the third time achieved by the Australian Daniel Ricciardo, just in front of Max Verstappen (Red Bull), more than eight tenths all the same. 

In the grip of a wandering tub, Nico Hulkenberg (Racing Point) nevertheless reassured himself with the sixth time, a breath behind his colleague Lance stroll. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) continues to run discreetly in the top 10 (7th), while the McLaren progress significantly in the hierarchy.

Like this morning, Esteban Ocon (Renault) completes the top 10. Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) drove slightly slower than Daniil Kvyat (12th and 13th). Romain Grosjean (Haas) remains faster than Kevin Magnussen in 15th place. Finally, the march is closed by the Williams and Alfa Romeos.
