EL2: Rosberg takes advantage of Hamilton’s exit

Nico Rosberg (Mercedes) established the benchmark time for the first day of testing for the Hungarian Grand Prix by completing a lap of the Hungaroring in 1'20''435, almost a second less than the time achieved in the first session by his teammate Lewis Hamilton.

The three-time world champion only completed four laps this afternoon. The Briton spun and ended his race in the tire wall before being taken to the medical center as a precaution even though he was able to reach the pits with his car.

Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) was closest to the first W07 Hybrid, finishing more than half a second behind. The Australian was ahead Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari), only other driver in the same second of Nico Rosberg.

Max Verstappen (Red Bull) finishes ahead of Lewis Hamilton who precedes Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari). THE McLaren de Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button are ahead of the Force Indias by Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Pérez.

Esteban Gutierrez (Haas) ranks just outside the top ten, more than two seconds behind the benchmark. The Mexican, who gave up his driving this morning to Charles Leclerc, finished two tenths ahead of his teammate Romain Grosjean 15th behind Felipe Massa (Williams), Carlos Sainz Jr. (Toro Rosso) and Valtteri Bottas (Williams).

The Frenchman, struggling with his brakes, finished ahead of Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso), Kevin Magnussen (Renault), Marcus Ericsson (Sauber), Jolyon Palmer (Renault) and Felipe Nasr (Sauber). The Manor of Pascal Wehrlein and Rio Haryanto complete the ranking.
