EL2 at Yas Marina: Bottas responds to Verstappen

Valtteri Bottas, who is still chasing success in 2018, dominates Free Practice 2 by ahead of Max Verstappen, who was the fastest in EL1, by 44 thousandths. The second Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo completes the Top 3 and confirms the good dispositions of the stable Milton Keynes.

Lewis Hamilton is in 4th place, two tenths from his teammate. THE Ferrari by Kimi Räikkönen and Sebastian Vettel follow closely, the six drivers of the three top teams holding within 0,333s over the 5,554 kilometers of the Yas Marina circuit.

Romain Grosjean wins the honorary place of best of the others with the 7th time for the driver Haas. The French precedes the Renault de Nico Hulkenberg and the second VF-18 of his teammate Kevin Magnussen. Esteban Ocon closes the first half of the table with the best ranked Force India.

The Norman is ahead of his compatriot Pierre Gasly by a tenth, the pilot Toro Rosso-Honda finishing in 11th place. Charles Leclerc, who had to give up his place to Antonio Giovinazzi in EL1, was satisfied with 15th fastest time at Sauber.

For his last weekend in Grands Prix, Fernando Alonso rises to 13th position. His teammate Stoffel Vandoorne, who will head for the Formula E in the wake of the 2018 campaign, is 19th, while Sergey Sirotkin, who had given way to his future replacement Robert Kubica at the start of the afternoon, brings up the rear more than 3,6s from Bottas' mark.

The most representative session in terms of the conditions that the drivers will encounter at dusk in qualifying and in the race, Free Practice 2 concludes with narrowing gaps between the three leading teams, as was the case over the last weekends of competition with a clear return to form at Red Bull.

The third and final free session will take place on Saturday at 14:00 p.m. local time (11:00 a.m. in France). It will be followed by qualifications from 17:00 p.m. (14:00 p.m.) which you can experience live with commentary on CARhebdo.fr.
